SOLID 12LB CANNON BALL FOUND ON THE
BANKS OF THE TENNESSEE RIVER AT SHILOH
This cannon ball was recovered from the
Tennessee River near Shiloh Battlefield. It is in relatively
good condition given as to how old it is and where it was found.
A very historic relic for the price from one of the most significant
battles of the war.
Price: $150
CONFEDERATE SIDELOADER CANNON BALL
Late war Confederate side loader cannon
ball. This shell was battlefield recovered at Petersburg
Virginia. The Confederates went from copper to lead to iron
regarding the plug placed in the side of the shell where the
canister balls and powder were loaded. This cannon ball
corresponds to the one pictures as Figure III-11 in Dickey and George's book
only instead of a copper plug this one has been cast over.
You can clearly see on this shell where the side loader plug is
suppose to go.
Price: $325
RARE CONFEDERATE ARCHER SHELL W/ SABOT
This is a rare Confederate Archer shell
that has been fired and retains most of its sabot. The great
majority of these shells that have been fired threw their sabots.
This Archer bolt is Figure III-48 in Dickey and George's book.
You really don't see these shells for sale that often. These shells
were used by Confederate artillery in the eastern theater until 1862
and the western theater on in to 1863. The shell measures
approximately 6 inches in height.
Price: $650
100 LB PARROT SHELL
This 100 pound Parrot shell was found
in Petersburg Virginia and has been in my collection for some time
now. You would not have wanted to be on the receiving end of
this one as it is a real show stopper. Part of the zinc fuse
remains. This artillery shell measures approximately 15 inches
tall and is 6.4 inches in diameter. This shell has been fired
and remains intact with some minor professional restoration of a
crack as a result of having been fired. See page 297 of Jack
Bell's book on Heavy Ordnance.
