LUFTWAFFE THREE PIECE GLADIATOR HELMET
The exterior body of this Luftschutz helmet has an early three-piece beaded construction with visible side welds. It is painted dark blue with a winged Luftschutz decal resting on the font. There are two seven-hole ("salt and pepper") vents on each side as well. The liner system with oilcloth band and cork padding – size 57cm. The welds holding the three-piece construction together are clearly visible on the sides. “RL 2 – 38/29” is stamped on the rear skirt to recognize the manufacturer, and just below is the air protection approval and size that reads “ Vertrieb genehmigt gemä Luftschutzgesetz Kopweite : 57” (roughly, Distribute according to approval of Section 8 of the Air Protection Law).

Grenadier Jacket
A grenadier was originally a designation in the 17th century for a soldier who threw hand grenades. It eventually became a designation for a more physically powerful soldier, capable of leading assaults.
This coat corresponds to a Waffen SS Infantry Grenadier Unit that was raised in the Netherlands (thus the designation on the sleve) that took place in Operation Market Garden and other battles of WWII.
The coat itself is in remarkable conditions and still retains many designations and insignia.
